10 Wonderful Ways To Play MyLeague and MyGM In NBA 2K17

After the producer announced new features for a game mode, a brainstorm session is sparked off among gamers.

The new options that will be added to NBA 2K17′s MyGM and MyLeague are enough to make it one of our most highly anticipated games of the year.

On Tuesday, we learned MyGM and MyLeague would now include expansion. This means you’ll be able to have leagues with as many as 36 teams, and that your new customized association can include squads from the current NBA, the Euroleague, classic teams, as well as totally original clubs with completely unique logos, uniforms and arenas.

When you add in the options to realign divisions and to create and edit players, the combinations of customizable roster sets and league structure is staggering.

This is like virtual sports heaven. We’re already planning on tackling the MyGM and MyLeague modes from a few different angles.

After the aforementioned brainstorm session in players, there came up with 10 intriguing concepts to explore in NBA 2K17.

1. Afros and Multi-Colored Balls

Afros and Multi-Colored Balls

Pittsburgh Condors’ Mike Lewis (24) and teammate John Brisker, right, battle Utah Stars’ Red Robbins, left, and Willie Wise (42) for rebound at the Stars basket in first half ABA basketball action in Pittsburgh, Feb. 15, 1971.

Who wants to be the first to start the hashtag: #BringBackTheABA?

With six expansion slots, it might be cool to create the St. Louis Spirits, Virginia Squires, Utah Stars and three other old ABA teams.

We don’t know if we’ll be able to change the fit of the player’s uniforms to match the era, or if we’ll be free to change the color of the basketball. However, with the realignment feature, you could create an all-ABA division.

Perhaps you raid the classic teams for players who spent time in the defunct league and go to town with afros and Chuck Taylors.

2. The Alumni

the Alumni

CHARLOTTE, NC – MARCH 20: Kyrie Irving #1 of the Duke Blue Devils reacts while taking on the Michigan Wolverines during the third round of the 2011 NCAA men’s basketball tournament at Time Warner Cable Arena on March 20, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

We still don’t have a College Hoops 2K game, but with the team creation options, we could create spot on uniforms and arenas for our favorite collegiate programs.

Creating current college players and teams for a condensed experienced is a thought, but without having the option to change the shot clock and playbooks, it won’t feel like a college game.

An even more exciting concept is an alumni league.

You take the best 34 pro-producing collegiate programs (leaving slots open for prep-to-pros and international players) and you assemble the 13-best players from each group.

For example, a North Carolina Tar Heels team would have: Michael Jordan, James Worthy and Kenny Smith, while a Duke Blue Devils team would have Grant Hill and Kyrie Irving.

Playing with those teams for an entire season might be fun.

3. The World League of Hoops

The World League of Hoops

CSKA Moscow French player Nando de Colo poses with the trophy after Moscow won the final at the Euroleague Final Four in Berlin on May 15, 2016.CSKA Moscow defeated Fenerbahce Istanbul 101 to 96, to take the trophy.

Ever wanted to know what would happen if the NBA Finals winner played against the team that won the Euroleague Cup to determine a true world champion?

If you add in the six best Euroleague teams into your MyGM or MyLeague, you could simulate or play out that fantasy. Would the Golden State Warriors wind up playing CSKA Moscow for the title?

4. Contest of Champions

OAKLAND, CA – JUNE 19: Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors handles the ball against Tristan Thompson #13 of the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals at ORACLE Arena on June 19, 2016 in Oakland, California. Every year it seems there’s a debate about how one championship team would match up against one from another era. In real life, we don’t have a way to settle those arguments.

However, in NBA 2K17, you could choose the 36-best NBA championship teams (even multiple squads from the same organization) and have them compete in a full campaign and postseason.

5. Going Home

going home

CLEVELAND, OH – JUNE 22: Cleveland fans walk in front of a LeBron James mural located on Ontario St. during the Cleveland Cavaliers 2016 NBA Championship victory parade and rally on June 22, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors to bring the first professional sports championship to the city of Cleveland since 1964.

NBA free agents returning to the cities and/or states that they grew up in has become a trend. LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and others have done it; You can take the idea to the extreme in NBA 2K17.

Take the 36 most prominent pro-producing states/countries/continents (by birth or high school location) and create teams for each.

A Texas team might include Jimmy Butler, Clyde Drexler and Chris Bosh and an Illinois group would have Derrick Rose, Isiah Thomas and Mark Aguirre.

6. The All-Time Teams

all time teams

With my Ultimate Legends roster, you can assemble the top players from each of the 30 NBA organizations to see which has had the best collection of stars.

Seattle Supersonics fans will probably want their own team, so that could fill one of the extra six slots—though you could play with just 30. A team of international stars who never played in the NBA such as Oscar Schmidt and Ante Tomic could fill out another.

7. The D-League Plus

D-League Plus

PHOTO SPECIAL FOR THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL – Memphis Grizzlies’ Levi Randolph guards the ball in an NBA summer league basketball game against NBA D-League Select, Friday, July, 8 2016, in Las Vegas.

There’s a contingent of fans who have been campaigning for the D-League’s inclusion in NBA 2K.

There’s only 19 D-League teams currently (20 if you count the new Chicago franchise), so you’d have to fill at least 10 other spots with other teams from lower-level pro leagues.

8. The New Era

new era

Here’s where it gets crazy.

This would take a lot of work, but if you’ve got the desire and the time, it might be worth it. You could create new players to fill out the rosters for all 30 NBA teams.

Essentially, you’d be dumping all the players from every roster and replacing them with new, fictional players.

In NBA 2K16, whenever you began the create-a-player process, a face, height and physical dimensions would be randomly selected—as would the name, position and a ratings base.

If that hasn’t changed in this year’s game, you could go with those randomly generated players as the new stars of the NBA.

If you want a little more control over the new faces of the league, you could give them all new names, etc. It would be like playing 20 or so seasons in a MyGM or MyLeague to a point where all of the current players have retired.

What would you do with the current players? One option is to put them all in the free agent pool and push each of their ages and experience to the max.

That would hasten their retirements and removal from the league. If you’re also wondering how to get past the 150 create-a-player max, here’s a workaround that has worked for the past two versions of the game.

9. Alternative Association

Perhaps you want to keep all of the current players, but you’d like to have 30-36 original teams. You could rebrand and/or relocate every team. Want to make it really cool?

Begin your MyGM or MyLeague with a fantasy draft and watch Kevin Durant wind up playing for the Mississippi Mastodons; I made that one up myself.

10. The Complete Redo

redo

Are you hardcore?

You better be if you’re going to try this last option. It’s basically a combination of the last two sets. Dump all of the current NBA players and rebrand and/or relocate every team and expand the league out to 36 teams.

The result would be a league of your own in almost every sense of the theme. This requires a considerable time commitment, but it epitomizes everything the new options in MyGM and MyLeague allow fans to do.

All above is others’ idea, if you have more opinions, we’re glad to share.
